A new microsporidian species Amblyospora indicola sp. n., parasite of fat body cells of Culex sitiens larvae, is described. Separation of diplokaryon nuclei occurs during the early sporulation phase of this microsporidian followed by the appearance of synaptonemal complexes in the nuclei suggesting that the first sporogonial division is meiotic.

Oncospheres of Taenia saginata cultivated in Leibovitz's medium on a cell monolayer from calf kidney developed up to 10th day of in vitro cultivation. Fine and often branched microvilli were observed on their surface. On day 5 of cultivation, the muscle system of hooks turned to a granular matter and on day 7 neither hooks nor their muscle system were found. The tegumental cytoplasm was not formed in the period of 7-60 days of cultivation. On days 7 and 10 of cultivation, a contact of oncospheres with the cells of monolayer was visible. On day 10 of cultivation, an extrusion of a portion of cytoplasm of surface cells filled with minute vesicles occurred....

The average reserve glycogen content in unstarved (control) parasites, 4.7 +/- 0.14 g/100 g F.T. (fresh weight of tissue) in Gastrothylax crumenifer and 3.15 +/- 0.14 g/100 g F.T. in Cotylophoron orientale has been estimated biochemically. The consumption of endogenous glycogen was found to be 18.47%, 44.37%, 66.66% and 78.13% of F. T. in G. crumenifer and 14.92%, 40.95%, 66.34% and 71.42% of F.T. in C. orientale during 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours of starvation. Both the parasites were able to resynthesize 71.71% and 75.42% of lost glycogen (maximum up to 16 hours) on refeeding in nutrient medium containing glucose. While studying the consistent patterns in the host-parasite relationships on the model of warble flies infesting cattle, a firm internal regulatory system governing the number of parasites on the host and reflected in the level of populations, has been demonstrated. This regulatory system is governed by mathematical-statistical laws and therefore can be modelled and its different features expressed mathematically.
