TERMS AND CONDITIONS
for the Payment of the Article Processing Charge (APC) for Articles Published in Folia Parasitologica
Article I
Introductory Provisions
These Terms and Conditions (hereinafter referred to as the “Terms and Conditions”) govern the rights and obligations between the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, as the publisher of the scientific journal Folia Parasitologica (hereinafter referred to as the “Publisher”), and the author or any other person paying the Article Processing Charge (hereinafter referred to as the “APC”).

The APC may be paid by the author or by a third party acting on the author’s behalf. This shall not affect the rights and obligations arising under these Terms and Conditions.
Article II
Subject Matter of the Service
The Publisher provides a service consisting of the production and publication of a scientific article accepted for publication in Folia Parasitologica. The APC constitutes payment for services provided following acceptance of the manuscript for publication. No APC is charged for manuscript submission, peer review, or the decision to accept or reject an article.
Article III
Independence of the Editorial Process
The peer-review process is conducted entirely independently of the payment of the APC. Decisions to accept or reject manuscripts are made solely on the basis of their scientific quality, originality, scholarly contribution and the outcome of the peer-review process. Payment of the APC is not a prerequisite for the commencement of peer review and has no influence whatsoever on the decisions of the editors, members of the Editorial Board or reviewers. No APC is charged for manuscripts that are not accepted for publication.
Article IV
Formation of the Contractual Relationship
The contractual relationship is established when the request for payment of the APC is sent following acceptance of the manuscript for publication. Following acceptance of the manuscript, the author will receive the article proofs (“Proofs”), an order form (“Order Form”) and information on how to pay the APC. Neither submission of a manuscript nor its peer review gives rise to an obligation to pay the APC. The obligation to pay the APC arises solely in respect of manuscripts accepted for publication.
Article V
Price of the Service and Payment Terms
5.1 Amount of the APC
The amount of the APC shall be determined in accordance with the current price list published on the Folia Parasitologica website and shall be based on the final accepted version of the manuscript. Any subsequent change to the price list shall not apply to manuscripts for which the Order Form has already been sent to the author.
5.2 Order Form
Following acceptance of the manuscript, the author will receive the Proofs, the Order Form and instructions for payment of the APC. On the basis of the completed Order Form, the Publisher will issue an invoice or provide a link for online payment.
5.3 Methods of Payment
The APC may be paid by bank transfer or by payment card online through the secure GoPay payment gateway. Payment details are processed exclusively by the payment service provider. The Publisher does not have access to such details and does not store them.
5.4 Invoicing
The Publisher shall issue a tax document in accordance with applicable legislation. The invoice may be issued to the author or to another person designated by the author.
5.5 Payment Due Date
The APC is payable within the period specified on the invoice and must be paid before the article is published.
5.6 Failure to Pay the APC
If the APC is not paid within the specified period, the Publisher shall be entitled to suspend the publication process or publication of the article until payment has been made in full. If the APC remains unpaid after an additional payment period specified by the Publisher, the Publisher may withdraw from the contractual relationship and decline to publish the article. This shall be without prejudice to the Publisher’s right to claim reimbursement of demonstrable and reasonably incurred costs.
Article VI
Provision of the Service
The service shall be deemed to have been duly provided upon publication of the article on the Folia Parasitologica website. The Publisher shall not be liable for any extension of the production process caused by circumstances attributable to the author or by other circumstances beyond the Publisher’s control.
Article VII
Withdrawal from the Contract
The author may withdraw the manuscript at any time before it has been accepted for publication; in such a case, no obligation to pay the APC shall arise. Following acceptance of the manuscript, withdrawal from the contract shall be possible only by agreement with the Publisher. Where production work has already commenced, the Publisher may require reimbursement of demonstrable and reasonably incurred costs. Once the article has been published, the APC is non-refundable.
Article VIII
Complaints
Complaints concerning payment of the APC or the payment process may be submitted in writing by email to folia@paru.cas.cz or by post to the Publisher’s registered office. A complaint should include identification of the author, the title of the article and a description of the matter concerned. The Publisher will normally deal with a complaint within 30 days. Where resolution of the complaint requires the cooperation of a third party, this period may be reasonably extended. Complaints shall not apply to the conduct or outcome of the peer-review process or to editorial decisions.
Article IX
Publisher’s Liability
The Publisher shall be responsible for the proper provision of the service within the scope of these Terms and Conditions. The Publisher shall not be liable for delays or damage caused by incorrect information provided by the author, the acts or omissions of third parties, technical failures, or other circumstances which the Publisher could not reasonably have foreseen or controlled.
Article X
Personal Data Protection
Personal data shall be processed only to the extent necessary for the administration of the editorial and publication process, invoicing and compliance with statutory obligations. Further information concerning the processing of personal data is provided in the “Privacy Policy” published on the journal’s website.
Article XI
Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
Legal relationships arising under these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. The contracting parties undertake to seek an amicable resolution of any disputes in the first instance. If no agreement can be reached, the courts of the Czech Republic shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine such disputes.
Article XII
Final Provisions
These Terms and Conditions form an integral part of the contractual relationship between the Publisher and the author or the person paying the APC. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions becomes invalid or unenforceable, this shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remaining provisions. The Publisher shall be entitled to make reasonable amendments or additions to these Terms and Conditions. The version of the Terms and Conditions in force at the time the Order Form is sent shall apply to the relevant contractual relationship.
These Terms and Conditions shall enter into force on 15 August 2026.
VŠEOBECNÉ OBCHODNÍ PODMÍNKY
pro úhradu poplatku za publikaci článku (Article Processing Charge – APC) v časopisu Folia Parasitologica
Článek I
Úvodní ustanovení
Tyto Všeobecné obchodní podmínky (dále jen „VOP“) upravují práva a povinnosti mezi Biologickým centrem AV ČR, v. v. i., jako vydavatelem vědeckého časopisu Folia Parasitologica (dále jen „vydavatel“), a autorem nebo jinou osobou, která hradí poplatek za publikaci článku (Article Processing Charge – APC, dále jen „APC“).

Poplatek APC může být uhrazen autorem nebo třetí osobou jednající jeho jménem. Tato skutečnost nemá vliv na práva a povinnosti stanovené těmito obchodními podmínkami.
Článek II
Předmět poskytované služby
Vydavatel poskytuje službu spočívající v produkční přípravě a zveřejnění vědeckého článku přijatého k publikaci v časopisu Folia Parasitologica. Poplatek APC představuje úhradu za služby poskytované po přijetí rukopisu k publikaci. Poplatek APC není účtován za podání rukopisu, recenzní řízení ani za rozhodnutí o přijetí či zamítnutí článku.
Článek III
Nezávislost redakčního procesu
Recenzní řízení probíhá zcela nezávisle na úhradě poplatku APC. Rozhodnutí o přijetí či zamítnutí rukopisu je činěno výhradně na základě jeho vědecké kvality, originality, odborného přínosu a výsledků recenzního řízení. Úhrada poplatku APC není podmínkou zahájení recenzního řízení ani nemá žádný vliv na rozhodování editorů, členů redakční rady ani recenzentů. Za rukopisy, které nebyly přijaty k publikaci, se poplatek APC neúčtuje.
Článek IV
Uzavření smluvního vztahu
Smluvní vztah vzniká okamžikem doručení výzvy k úhradě poplatku APC po přijetí rukopisu k publikaci. Po přijetí rukopisu obdrží autor autorskou korekturu (Proofs), objednávkový formulář (Order Form) a informace o způsobu úhrady poplatku APC. Předložení rukopisu ani jeho recenzní řízení nezakládají povinnost uhradit poplatek APC. Povinnost uhradit poplatek APC vzniká výhradně u rukopisů přijatých k publikaci.
Článek V
Cena služby a platební podmínky
5.1 Výše poplatku APC
Výše poplatku APC se řídí aktuálním ceníkem zveřejněným na webových stránkách časopisu Folia Parasitologica a stanovuje se podle konečné přijaté podoby rukopisu. Změna ceníku se nevztahuje na rukopisy, u nichž již byl autorovi zaslán Order Form.
5.2 Order Form
Po přijetí rukopisu obdrží autor Proofs, Order Form a pokyny k úhradě poplatku APC. Na základě vyplněného Order Form vydavatel vystaví fakturu nebo zašle odkaz pro online platbu.
5.3 Způsoby úhrady
Poplatek APC lze uhradit bankovním převodem nebo online platební kartou prostřednictvím zabezpečené platební brány GoPay. Platební údaje jsou zpracovávány výhradně poskytovatelem platebních služeb a vydavatel k nim nemá přístup ani je neuchovává.
5.4 Fakturace
Vydavatel vystaví daňový doklad v souladu s platnými právními předpisy. Faktura může být vystavena na autora nebo jinou osobu určenou autorem.
5.5 Splatnost
Poplatek APC je splatný ve lhůtě uvedené na faktuře a musí být uhrazen před zveřejněním článku.
5.6 Neuhrazení poplatku APC
Nebude-li poplatek APC uhrazen ve stanovené lhůtě, je vydavatel oprávněn pozastavit publikační proces nebo zveřejnění článku až do jeho úplného uhrazení. Nebude-li poplatek APC uhrazen ani v dodatečně stanovené lhůtě, může vydavatel od smluvního vztahu odstoupit a článek nezveřejnit. Tím není dotčeno jeho právo požadovat náhradu prokazatelně a účelně vynaložených nákladů.
Článek VI
Poskytnutí služby
Služba je považována za řádně poskytnutou zveřejněním článku na webových stránkách časopisu Folia Parasitologica. Vydavatel neodpovídá za prodloužení produkčního procesu způsobené okolnostmi na straně autora ani jinými okolnostmi, které nemůže ovlivnit.
Článek VII
Odstoupení od smlouvy
Autor může svůj rukopis stáhnout kdykoliv před jeho přijetím k publikaci; v takovém případě nevzniká povinnost uhradit poplatek APC. Po přijetí rukopisu lze od smlouvy odstoupit pouze po dohodě s vydavatelem. Byly-li již zahájeny produkční práce, může vydavatel požadovat náhradu prokazatelně a účelně vynaložených nákladů. Po zveřejnění článku se poplatek APC nevrací.
Článek VIII
Reklamace
Reklamaci týkající se úhrady poplatku APC nebo platebního procesu lze uplatnit písemně na e-mail folia@paru.cas.cz nebo na adresu sídla vydavatele. Reklamace by měla obsahovat identifikaci autora, název článku a popis reklamované skutečnosti. Vydavatel reklamaci vyřídí zpravidla do 30 dnů. Vyžaduje-li její vyřízení součinnost třetí osoby, může být tato lhůta přiměřeně prodloužena. Reklamace se nevztahují na průběh a výsledky recenzního řízení ani na redakční rozhodnutí.
Článek IX
Odpovědnost vydavatele
Vydavatel odpovídá za řádné poskytnutí služby v rozsahu těchto obchodních podmínek. Neodpovídá za prodlení nebo škody způsobené nesprávnými údaji poskytnutými autorem, činností třetích osob, technickými výpadky ani jinými okolnostmi, které nemohl rozumně předvídat nebo ovlivnit.
Článek X
Ochrana osobních údajů
Osobní údaje jsou zpracovávány pouze v rozsahu nezbytném pro vedení redakčního a publikačního procesu, fakturaci a plnění zákonných povinností. Podrobnosti o zpracování osobních údajů jsou uvedeny v dokumentu „Zásady ochrany osobních údajů“, zveřejněném na webových stránkách časopisu.
Článek XI
Rozhodné právo a řešení sporů
Právní vztahy vzniklé na základě těchto obchodních podmínek se řídí právním řádem České republiky. Případné spory se smluvní strany zavazují řešit přednostně smírnou cestou; nedojde-li k dohodě, jsou k jejich projednání příslušné soudy České republiky.
Článek XII
Závěrečná ustanovení
Tyto VOP tvoří nedílnou součást smluvního vztahu mezi vydavatelem a autorem nebo osobou hradící poplatek APC. Pokud se některé ustanovení těchto VOP stane neplatným nebo neúčinným, není tím dotčena platnost ostatních ustanovení. Vydavatel je oprávněn tyto VOP přiměřeně měnit nebo doplňovat. Pro každý smluvní vztah je rozhodující znění těchto VOP účinné v okamžiku zaslání Order Form.
