The ultrastructure of the reproductive system, and the oogenesis of two day-old, fertilized females of Trichinella spiralis and T. nativa.

Folia Parasitologica 29[1] 39-44 (1982)

The authors observed no difference in the ultrastructural topography of the female reproductive system of T. nativa and T. spiralis, and in the oogenesis. There were both dense and lucid areas produced by invaginations of the oolemma in the cytoplasm of primary oocytes. The oolemma contained fibril-covered microvilli. Large granules differentiated in mature oocytes by an incorporation of smaller granules into transparent areas of the cytoplasm which became membrane-bound. The sheath covering oocytes originated from a dense fibrous substance surrounding the granules before oocytic fertilization. Oral sperms in the spermatheca of T. nativa could be distinguished...

F Dusbábek, M Daniel, W M Til

Folia Parasitologica 29[2] 167-176 (1982)

Laelapid mites of some small mammals from the Toro Game Reserve in Western Uganda were studied. The following species were determined: Laelaps (Echinolaelaps) muricola Trägardh, L. (E.) giganteus Berlese, L. (laelaps) grenieri Taufflieb, L. (L.) kampalensis Taufflieb, L. (L.) liberiensis Hirst, Androlaelaps callosus (Berlese) and A. zulu (Berlese). A female and a male of a new species Androlaelaps verneri sp. N. and up to now unknown males of A. callosus and L. kampalensis are described. All species found are briefly discussed.

Trypsinization and stereoscopy were found to be the most suitable methods for the detection of sarcosporidiosis in farm animals. Sarcocystis cruzi, S. hirsuta and S. hominis were detected in 87% of 200 cattle and S. ovicanis and S. tenella in 92% of 100 sheep examined. The examinations of 200 pigs were negative.

J Minár, K A Breev

Folia Parasitologica 29[4] 351-360 (1982)

A new method was successfully used in collecting the mature larvae of the cattle warble fly by means of woven wire flooring. In laboratory colonies the influence of temperature on pupal development, percentage of hatched adults and sex ratio, weight of pupae and adults, its changes during their life cycle, copulation and survival of adults were studied. Field experiments involved studies on the influence of humidity on the survival of pupae, percentage of hatched adults, duration of the pupal stage in the spring and summer periods. Stability of the total sum of temperatures above the temperature threshold necessary for the development of adult in pupa,...
